The wife of 37-year-old Avilala Sudarshan, a migrant worker from Raikal in Jagtial district who was reportedly killed in a missile strike in war-torn Ukraine on September 1, has sought the government’s intervention to repatriate his mortal remains to India.According to sources, Sudarshan, a worker with experience in reinforced concrete products and structures, had gone to Ukraine a couple of months ago in search of employment. He was reportedly killed after being hit by a missile near his rented accommodation in a war-affected region on Tuesday.His wife, Bhargavi, a resident of Jagtial, approached the Chief Minister’s Pravasi Prajavani office in Hyderabad on Thursday and sought assistance in bringing her husband’s mortal remains back to India.In a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, she urged the State government to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Embassy and Consulate officials concerned in Kyiv to expedite the identification and recovery of the mortal remains and facilitate their transportation to India.She sought the government’s help in bringing the mortal remains of her husband to their native place in Jagtial district so that the family could perform the final rites.
