The district police have recovered more than 15,000 stolen or lost mobile phones worth ₹30.49 crore till date and returned them to their owners, said Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh on Thursday.Under “Mee Mobile – Mee Intiki” programme, 583 phones worth ₹1.22 crore were handed over to the owners at their doorsteps by Circle Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and village police officers.Mr Jagadeesh said special police teams were formed based on complaints received through the Chatbot or CEIR regarding lost mobile phones. The phones were tracked and recovered using IMEI-based tracking, technical investigation and the assistance of the Cyber Division. For reporting lost mobile phones, special chatbot services were launched on June 26, 2022.The recently launched “Mee Mobile – Mee Intiki” aims to provide services to the people in a more transparent, faster and trustworthy manner, the SP said..The SP added that of the phones recovered so far 1,203 of them were traced to 20 other States, and 2,863 phones were traced to 18 other districts in Andhra Pradesh.
