Indie auteur Joe Swanberg is ready to rock.

Swanberg is writing, editing and directing an as-yet-untitled 35mm dramedy in Chicago. Shiloh Fernandez and Marc Senter star as Lucas Hunter and Oliver Cross, founders of an indie rock band named Fast Star.

Per the logline, “two longtime indie rock musicians’ band gets an unexpected second wind after a younger, newly popular rapper samples one of their old songs. Suddenly back in the spotlight and on tour, their increasingly different approaches to middle age push long-simmering personal and creative tensions to the breaking point.”

Kali Skrap, Karley Sciortino and Chris Tuttle round out the cast. Kevin Veselka is the cinematographer on the feature.

The film is a Last Encore and Ghost Gang production, in association with 3Links Productions. Senter, Ashleigh Snead, Nathan Crooker, Swanberg and Sean E. DeMott are producers on the project. Kathy Gitibin Parsa, Ariana Parsa, John Greenberg, Ray Blanchard and Anthony Killough are executive producers.
