The ‘Shrinking’ co-stars offer a playful yet accessible crash course in showing up for friends facing a diagnosis.

How do you actually support a friend who recently received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis? It’s far more straightforward than most people assume, according to a new, no-nonsense public service announcement for The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) starring uber-famous buddies Fox and Harrison Ford.

Maximum Effort — the agency owned by Ryan Reynolds, an MJFF board member — created the spot, titled “So…Your Friend Has Parkinson’s.” In it, Fox, who was diagnosed in 1991 and went public in 1998, and Ford go over the dos and don'ts of providing real support for friends with the disease.
