Now Playing | Munna Bhaiya: 5 songs the Prince of Mirzapur would have on repeat

Everyone has a soundtrack to their life. Our favourite fictional characters have one too. Now Playing is our attempt to guess what’s on it, picking a handful of songs across more obvious anthems to the slightly left-field choices that require a little more imagination, and making the case for each one.Ever since his first appearance as a ferocious, hyper-violent and entitled gangster in the crime-saga Mirzapur, Munna Bhaiya has enjoyed extensive fandom owing to his constant profanities, darkly-comic innuendos and a charged-up portrayal by Divyenndu. There is a staunch small-towner in his being with an added touch of an unrealised, under-dog coming-of-age as Munna is constantly belittled by his own father, the formidable Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi), and forced to function under his overbearing shadow. Even as the series glorifies Munna in the middle of high testosterone-fuelled, pulpy, dark fantasies and incessant blood, he is still made out to be memorable, if not exactly likeable. Apart from his angry bursts, Munna also laments the loss of his friends, strives to win respect in his father’s eyes and almost softens in love, only to meet a fateful end in the climax of season 2.
