Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said Thursday that he would likely back an unchanged federal funds rate at the Fed's September meeting, so long as inflation figures released before then continue showing movement toward the central bank's 2% goal.
"If this continues in the data due over the next two weeks, I would be inclined to support holding the target for the federal funds rate at its current setting," Waller said in remarks prepared for a Reuters interview in Washington.
