A prison nurse has appeared in court accused of having a relationship with a drug-dealing killer after he reportedly put her address on court documents. Stephanie Adair, 29, was arrested on November 1 after it emerged she was allegedly having a relationship with inmate Jahki Crosdale at HMP Wandsworth.Adair, of Southwark, south London, faces one count of misconduct in public office. Crosdale, 28, is charged with encouraging the commission of an indictable only offence over the alleged affair.Adair was temporarily banned from working in prisons or institutions where any individual is serving a sentence imposed by the courts as part of a 'conditions of practice' order set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council last year.She appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, where she spoke only to confirm her name and address.Her case was next listed for September 29 at Kingston Crown Court, with the judge telling Adair: 'This is a matter that can only be dealt with in the crown court.'Crosdale had also been due to appear but did not due to issues with the video link at HMP Manchester, where he is currently serving his sentence. Claims of their relationship had emerged after Crosdale put her address on court documents, it is understood. Her father, David Adair, previously told the Daily Mail the family is 'very upset about the allegations against Stephanie', but added they 'can't talk about the case' as it is ongoing. He continued: 'It's very frustrating. We can't say about anything about the case. And Stephanie can't speak to anyone about it at the moment.'We are very polite, decent people. We are both teachers. 'We have been unable to talk to our friends about it. We can't speak to anybody about it.'Crosdale was just 17 when he was convicted of the manslaughter of trainee plumber Charlie Burns in March 2015 and sentenced to six years in prison.He had stabbed him to death over a £150 cannabis debt. In 2018 Crosdale was found with £2,000 worth of class A drugs, including heroin and cocaine, as he travelled from London to Aberdeen. He pleaded guilty to charges of the supply of class A drugs and was jailed for a year.Crosdale was later also jailed for firearms and drug offences and sent to HMP Wandsworth.HMP Wandsworth was condemned as 'England's worst jail' in August 2024 by the Howard League for Penal Reform, citing high levels of overcrowding, self-harm, violence and seven self-inflicted deaths over the previous 12 months.It is the same prison where prison officer Linda De Sousa Abreu was filmed having sex with inmate Linton Weirich.
