Award-winning South African Afro-pop duo, Mafikizolo, is the headline act of the music line up at the Durban Street Food Festival - a weekend long celebration of our city’s diverse culinary heritage, craft and music, to be hosted at the Pavilion Shopping Centre this weekend.
Mafikizolo, comprises vocalist Nhlanhla Nciza and composer Theo Kgosinkwe. Formed in 1996, their music blends elements of kwaito, Afro-soul, and house, creating a distinctive sound that has captivated audiences across the continent.
Today sees Durban educator, singer and guitarist Zoe Wright open the musical proceedings at noon; followed by uJomba, a traditional Maskandi crossover music act; then Impul$e and The RnBhincas bring a smooth deep soul at 2pm. DJ Cait does a live set at 3pm with local rock, punk rock, RnB, and pop band Wah Wah Baby at 4pm.
Music takes a break from 5 til 7pm to allow fans to watch the rugby on the big screen.
