As the debate around South Africa's domestic cricket formats continues to heat up, DP World Lions batting coach Hashim Amla has praised the existing structures that have driven his side's considerable success in recent seasons.
When asked in an exclusive interview with IOL if the Lions were carrying much of the weight of South Africa's high-performance pipeline, Amla remained grounded.
“I have no idea what the financial standings are with anyone. All I know is that the DP World Lions have been a really good franchise. Fortunately, quite a few of our players have gone on to represent South Africa, SA 'A', and the SA Emerging team.”
The reigning 4-Day Series Division 1 champions continue to churn out top-tier talent. Over the past few seasons, rising stars Kwena Maphaka, Nqaba Peter, and Connor Esterhuizen have all earned national call-ups.
