Uber and Wayve launched London’s first paid autonomous taxi rides on Thursday, marking the commercial debut of UK-based AI tech firm Wayve.
The launch is Uber’s second robotaxi offering in Europe, following a service in Zagreb that began last month.
Passengers who request rides through Uber’s app may be matched with a Wayve-powered Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle, which will be charged the same, except that passengers will not be prompted to tip, the companies said.
