World-renowned ballroom dancer, Jane Bullock, who trained professionals for Strictly Come Dancing, suffered a severe stroke in 2025 and now requires 24/7 care09:22, 03 Sep 2026Former Strictly Come Dancing coach Jane Bullock and her husband Warren appeared on BBC Breakfast.‌Jane, 60, and Warren, 61, met when they were just 19 and had an extraordinary career as ballroom dancers. They became British champions and represented the UK in European and world competitions. Jane also trained professionals for Strictly Come Dancing.‌The couple had also ran ZigZag Dance Factory for more than 30 years and even had their own Netflix series Baby Ballroom. However, on 10 August 2025, their lives completely changed.‌After teaching a class, Jane collapsed while carrying out chores at home, where it was later discovered she had suffered a severe stroke. Jane now requires 24/7 care.Appearing in a pre-recorded video interview with BBC Breakfast and speaking to reporter Graham Satchell, the latter explained how the couple have cameras in their home and it captured the moment just seconds before Jane had her stroke.‌Recalling the terrifying moment and 'odd' symptom Jane had, Warren emotionally said: "I tried to pick her up and she gave me the right arm and I said give me your left arm and she kept giving me the right arm and I thought 'Oh, this seems odd.' I looked at her face and I could see that her mouth had drooped and that's when I started to realise I think this is a stroke."Jane was rushed to hospital and she was put on life support and a ventilator for almost a month. Warren was in tears recalling the devastating time, admitting: "I thought she was going to die."‌He emotionally added: "And then you were like doing something on my hand, weren't you? Kept doing this [acted out hand gesture] and then I realised she was spelling something. Remember what you were spelling?" to which Jane responded: "I love you", leaving Warren in tears again.After eight months in hospital Jane finally came home, which was a 'joyful' moment, but the reality of looking after Jane 24/7 was a 'shock' for Warren.Article continues belowWarren said: "I didn't realise the amount of work that it would be because some nights we get no sleep at all." Due to Jane also having Crohn's disease, Warren added: "That has been a challenge so that some nights we can be up every hour of the night. That means no sleep. It's difficult and it's helping her to eat, helping her to drink. It's relentless."The couple are currently paying for weekly physio sessions and a live-in carer, Warren had applied for continuing health care funding but was turned down.
