ITV presenter Henry Cole has stunned followers by revealing he has cancer as Elizabeth Hurley was among those sharing messages to the 'national treasure'08:36, 03 Sep 2026Updated 13:16, 03 Sep 2026The Motorbike Show star Henry Cole has revealed he’s been diagnosed with gut cancer and has cancelled work to undergo surgery.‌Making the announcement on Instagram, the 62-year-old said he is postponing his upcoming theatre tour, but is optimistic and hoping for a "full recovery". In a video he told followers: "I've just got a little announcement OK, and that is, I’m terribly sorry. I’m going to have to move the gigs this side of Christmas, the live shows to after Christmas when we’ll rebook them."‌He went on: "I’ll tell you why that is, it’s because I’ve got a little bit of the cancer, OK? Down in my little gut here. It’s localised, it’s easy to operate on, and thank gosh we found it.‌"So, I am told, God willing, that I will make a full recovery, and I’ll come up smiling around February, but please folks, please understand I’m so sorry, I didn’t obviously mean that to happen, but in the meantime, filming is not affected, but whatever happens, God sometimes does a small poo in your man bag doesn’t he?"He remained positive as he joked: "You’ve got to grow old disgracefully," before telling his followers he will keep them updated on his condition.‌According to the NHS, stomach cancer can be found anywhere in the stomach. It is not very common in the UK and how serious it is is depends on how big the cancer is, if it has spread, and your general health.Elizabeth Hurley was among those offering their support in the comments section, telling the star: "I love you." Another follower told him to stop apologising for postponing the shows.They wrote: "Stop apologising!! Get it gone and get well asap Henry, there's nobody else worth watching on TV. Wishing you all the best." And a third called him a "national treasure".‌As well as The Motorbike Show, Henry has appeared on Shed and Buried and Find It, Fix It, Flog It. He had previously worked as a cameraman and director and then launched his own production company before appearing in front of the camera.He has visited over 1,000 sheds and garages across the UK and recently said he believes Brits are sitting on a goldmine of valuable items including vintage collectables and antiques. He pointed out that concealed private collections range from hundreds of motors and scores of aircraft to troves of tractors and motorbikes could be sitting.He suggested that bits and bobs like car memorabilia and vintage oil cans and jugs could rake in a tidy sum rather than being chucked out.‌He said: "Where Brits go wrong is that a lot of things they're holding onto are worthless, from bikes to mobility scooters to brown furniture and bathroom goods."But at the same time, there is millions of millions of pounds worth of automotive related items, and when I go into a shed I can very quickly sift through the rubbish and find the good stuff."Like this story?
