An office belonging to Abhishek Banerjee, general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, at Camac Street in Kolkata was ransacked on Thursday morning (September 3, 2026).Mr. Banerjee alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party supporters were behind the attack. Videos shared by Trinamool Congress leaders showed several masked men removing equipment from the office, with shattered glass and other materials scattered around, indicating vandalism. The CCTV footage shows a group of men emerging from the lift and wandering around.“If this is how the Opposition is to be treated in West Bengal — with violence, vandalism and intimidation, then the Chief Minister has no moral authority to remain in office. He must resign. This is not democracy. This is political thuggery,” Mr. Banerjee posted on social media, sharing videos captured by cameras inside the premises. The Trinamool leader urged the judiciary, particularly the Calcutta High Court, to take “serious note and act to uphold the rule of law in West Bengal”.
