Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn are becoming central reference points in AI-generated search answers, according to a March 31, 2026 analysis by Peec AI. The study examined 30 million AI-generated citation events across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Its clearest finding is that Reddit ranked first or second across the tested platforms, with YouTube and LinkedIn also appearing consistently among the most-cited domains.
That matters because AI search experiences increasingly present answers alongside named sources. For businesses, visibility is no longer limited to their own website and conventional publisher coverage. Community discussions, video walkthroughs and professional posts can influence the material users encounter when they ask AI systems for recommendations, explanations or product research.
Search Engine Land's coverage of the Peec AI study highlights the cross-platform pattern: Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn were the most consistently prominent social and community sources, although the mix differs by engine and query context.
What the cross-platform citation data shows
The Peec AI analysis does not say that every platform cites the same sites in the same order. Instead, it identifies a broad pattern in which user-generated, professional and video content sits alongside traditional editorial and reference sources.
