Sunbeth Global Concepts Ltd., one of Nigeria’s largest cocoa exporters, has adopted international sustainability disclosure standards as tighter environmental rules reshape access to global agricultural markets.
The company voluntarily applied the IFRS S1 and S2 standards to its inaugural 2025 sustainability report, becoming, according to Sunbeth, the first Nigerian agricultural company to do so.
The standards, developed by the International Sustainability Standards Board, require companies to disclose material sustainability and climate-related risks that could affect their financial performance, cash flows and access to capital.
For Sunbeth, the move comes as exporters face increasing demands from international buyers and regulators for evidence of traceable and deforestation-free supply chains.
The company mapped more than 140,000 hectares and 30,000 farmers in 2025 as part of efforts to meet traceability requirements under the European Union Deforestation Regulation, according to the report.
