Four people have been arrested by gardaí following an attack which left one man injured at a Spar shop in Ranelagh, south Dublin, shortly before 1.30pm on Wednesday.The attack is suspected to have involved a knife and occurred at the prominent convenience store adjacent to the Triangle in the village.The shop entrance was cordoned off while the store was inspected as part of the investigation. The incident is thought to have begun elsewhere before ending up in the premises.Those arrested were detained at a Dublin Garda station on Wednesday.A young man who suffered stab wounds in the attack was brought to hospital with injuries that are thought to be “non-life-threatening”.Local camera footage, seen by The Irish Times, shows an individual running from a number of others along the main street in Ranelagh before entering the Spar premises.A number of the individuals involved in the incident are known in the area.It is understood that gardaí at the scene of the incident were investigating links to another attack in Leopardstown over the weekend.An Garda Síochána confirmed that the force, including armed officers, responded to calls of an alleged assault.It said in a statement: “Gardaí arrested four individuals who are currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in Garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. Investigations are ongoing.”The suspected assault comes days after a 24-year-old man died after suffering “catastrophic injuries” in a large-scale violent confrontation in Leopardstown on Saturday evening.The attack, which took place at an abandoned premises in the area which was home to about 15 members of the Roma community, involved a spade and led to the death of Siminic Rostas, a court heard.
