GENEVA, September 2. /TASS/. The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has ruled to clear Russian athletes for participation in the 2026/2027 season tournaments under a neutral status, the organization’s press office announced in a statement.
Neutral status, declaration
- Russian athletes will be eligible to compete in FIS tournaments in cross country skiing, alpine skiing, ski jumping, Nordic Combined, freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
- Athletes from Russia will compete as neutrals at international competitions. Athletes representing Russia will be obliged to sign a declaration on their neutral-status participation Russian athletes will still be barred from competing in team events Inspections of Russian athletes have been cancelled, as per a statement from the Telegram channel of Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev, who is also the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
- The issue of Russia’s quotas for FIS tournaments will be clarified at a later date, Yegor Sorin, the head coach of the Russian national cross·country skiing team, told TASS.
