In February, Polestar announced plans to significantly expand its model range with four new models within three years. In addition to the now-launched Polestar 5, the manufacturer unveiled a new generation of the Polestar 2 for 2027 and the Polestar 7 for 2028 earlier this year.
Another variant of the Polestar 4 was also announced for the end of 2026, though without providing further details. This summer, the existing model first received an update and has since officially been designated the Polestar 4 Coupé. It is now clear that the new variant is the Polestar 4 SUV.
However, the new model is not a ‘raised’ coupé – the ground clearance remains identical at 166 millimetres. The differences only begin behind the B-pillar. The roofline extends more linearly towards the rear. Additionally, there is a roof rail and a significantly steeper rear section with a vertically positioned tailgate. The SUV also features a conventional rear window. In the Coupé, Polestar had omitted this, relying exclusively on a camera and a digital rear-view mirror for rear visibility.
Dimensions tweaked – and much more practical
With the modified roof and rear design, the dimensions barely change, but the practicality improves significantly. The Polestar 4 SUV is 4.84 metres long, just over 2.14 m wide (including mirrors), and has a wheelbase of almost three metres – all identical to the Coupé. The only difference in size is the height: at 1.556 m, the SUV is 22 mm taller than the 1.534 m Coupé. This primarily benefits rear passengers, who gain 25 mm of additional headroom.
