The Coimbatore Corporation has launched a 24-hour fever prevention and control centre to provide medical advice to residents and monitor fever cases and preventive measures across the city’s 100 wards.The centre, functioning at the Corporation’s main office since August 29, 2026 can be reached at 9597004936. It will monitor fever trends across all five zones and coordinate early detection, treatment and prevention of fever-related infections, the Corporation said.Residents reporting fever will be assessed for symptoms, duration of illness, travel history and other relevant details. Those requiring further evaluation will be advised laboratory tests for diseases including dengue, malaria, chikungunya, leptospirosis, typhoid and influenza.The centre will maintain daily data on suspected and confirmed cases and monitor patients, particularly those diagnosed with dengue. Areas reporting clusters of fever cases will be subjected to intensified surveillance, house-to-house fever surveys and, where required, special medical and fever camps.The centre will also coordinate mosquito-control measures, including removal of stagnant water and breeding sources, larval control and fogging.The centre will also coordinate with urban primary health centres, government and private hospitals, laboratories, health inspectors, medical officers and Corporation field staff to track cases, laboratory results, referrals and preventive action on a daily basis.
