United Nigeria Airlines has announced disruptions across its flight schedule following a bird strike involving one of its Embraer 190 aircraft at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The incident occurred during the arrival of Flight UN 0523 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Evidence of the strike was identified on the aircraft’s right engine at 21:40 UTC during a routine post-flight technical inspection.
In accordance with aviation safety regulations, the carrier immediately grounded the affected Embraer 190 to undergo detailed engineering inspection and necessary maintenance.
The temporary removal of the aircraft from active rotation will affect subsequent flight schedules, leading to delays and rescheduling across select routes.
