CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers raised some eyebrows in NFL circles this week by keeping five tight ends on their initial roster. But it didn’t really come as a shock to Tommy Tremble, who joked that the team could run “05 personnel” with all five tight ends on the field with quarterback Bryce Young.“Everyone has a different aspect to their game, so it wasn’t very surprising to us. If anything, it shows what they think about us,” said Tremble, the sixth-year tight end. “So after that deadline hit, to see them keep five of us, it was kind of reassuring for us.”Keeping five on the 53-man roster doesn’t mean the Panthers will have all five active on game days. Head coach Dave Canales said there are still “some things to work out” in terms of how the tight ends impact the game-day math.The Panthers had trade talks involving Ja’Tavion Sanders before Sunday’s roster cuts, according to a league source who wasn’t authorized to discuss the discussions. What he does with them on game day is yet to be seen. But right now we feel good about it.”The tight end room became crowded two weeks ago after Morgan signed free agent Darren Waller, who caught 24 passes, including six touchdowns. last year for Miami but missed seven games due to injuries.Waller, who turns 34 the day of the season opener against the Chicago Bears, dealt with three injuries last season, including a torn quad early in training camp after he ended a one-year retirement.
