The Open Book Festival brings together a range of writers, poets, industry leaders and creatives to discuss books, politics, activism and more, alongside a marketplace full of local vendors.
The much-loved Open Book Festival returns to Cape Town from September 4 to 6, with more than 120 participants and over 60 events on the programme.
Since launching in 2011, the festival has built a loyal following through a programme that creates space for difficult conversations through the lens of books.
This year’s themes include African identity, queerness, gender-based violence and future thinking.
Festival coordinator and curator Frankie Murrey highlighted Conversations with Mohale, poetry performances and African Identities | African Cosmologies among her programme picks.
