NewsUK NewsBritish Transport PoliceA 38-year-old man is in custody after a man was allegedly attacked at London's Liverpool Street station while travelling home from Notting Hill Carnival11:58, 02 Sep 2026Updated 21:24, 02 Sep 2026A 32-year-old man has died after being allegedly attacked at London’s Liverpool Street station while travelling home from Notting Hill Carnival.Police and paramedics were called at 10.51pm on Sunday to reports of a serious assault on the eastbound Central Line platform at the underground station, British Transport Police (BTP) said.The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and died on Tuesday with his family by his side. They are being supported by specialist officers.Jeremiah Maximo, 38, of Drydock Square, Barking, was arrested on Sunday following an investigation by BTP.Prior to the victim's death, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had authorised a charge of grievous bodily harm (GBH) against Maximo, the force said.Following the victim's death, BTP detectives will apply to amend the charge, with the application to be heard at a later date.Maximo, who has been remanded in custody, is due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday).Article continues belowDetective Superintendent Sam Blackburn said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are firmly with loved ones of the young man who has sadly died.
