Celine Dion was the picture of happiness as she greeted fans at her hotel in Paris while preparing to launch her major comeback with a residency in the French capital12:20, 02 Sep 2026Celine Dion entertained her fans in Paris as she arrived at her hotel. The global mega star is currently preparing for a mammoth residency of shows in the French capital, six years after her last tour.‌The Canadian superstar was seen greeting fans as she arrived back at her hotel following an outing in Paris and took time out to greet those who had been waiting outside the hotel to catch a glimpse of her.‌Celine, 58, looked as glamorous as ever in a stunning black dress, featuring a ruffled hem just above her knee and a flowing train. Keeping her look sophisticated, the star, often dubbed the Queen of Power Ballads, rocked a pair of black heeled shoes and gold hoop earrings.‌While arriving back at her hotel, Celine put on a display for those waiting, as she threw her arms into the air while speaking to fans who had been desperate to catch a glimpse of the Loved Me Back To Life songstress. On Friday, Celine made her first public appearance in two years, performing at the Elie Saab fashion event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She also performed at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She has also been spotted in the crowd at Coldplay and Sir Paul McCartney concerts.‌Celine, in recent years, took a step back from public life and cancelled all work commitments due to battling with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological condition, which presents extreme muscle stiffness and spasms. Since her last tour in 2020, Celine has only performed once.‌She opened up about her condition in her 2024 documentary, I Am: Celine Dion. Celine announced her return to the spotlight in March this year, with ten dates in Paris. But due to unprecedented demand, she was forced to add an additional 16 dates, running from September 12 through til May next year.Speaking about how she's preparing for the shows, Celine explained she's following a gruelling workout schedule, complete with 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week and twice-weekly ballet classes. She told Harper's Bazaar this month: "It is a progressive condition. I don't like to say 'disease.' Disease makes you go like this [scrunching her nose] 'Kevin, you're such a disease.'" At her recording studio at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Celine has a variety of gym equipment, including a treadmill, reformer machine, weights and a ballet barre.‌Celine was diagnosed with the condition in 2022, two years after suffering a flare-up in 2020 at the start of the global coronavirus pandemic. She later isolated herself from public life and her dedicated fan base, although she feared her fans would believe she was happy even as she cancelled shows. But now, she's ready to get back onto the stage, telling Harper's: "It's been so long, I would like to offer them [fans] something to show how I've missed them. They paid for tickets, they bought my records. They gave me that luxury. So the least I can do is tell them that I'm alive."She'll kick off the first leg of her residency later this month, at the 40,000-seater Paris La Défense Arena. Announcing the news on her birthday, she said it was "the best gift of life." Speaking in a video, Celine said: "I'm so ready to do this. I'm feeling good, I'm strong, I'm feeling excited, obviously, [and] of course, a little nervous.‌"I'm doing great, managing my health, feeling good. I'm singing again, even doing a little bit of dancing. But I have to tell you something very important: Over these last few years, every day that's gone by, I felt your prayers and support, your kindness and love. I am grateful to all of you. I can't wait to see you again."Speaking about her condition in 2022, at the time of cancelling shows, Celine told fans: "Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life. Sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I'm used to."I'm working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again, but I have to admit it's been a struggle. All I know is singing. It's what I've done all my life, and it's what I love to do the most."Article continues belowLike this story?
