Convicted serial killer Rassie Nkuna and dismissed police officer Jacob Mothibe Chego have been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of pregnant police officer Sabeilewe Mogashoa and her husband, Lucky, who were killed in front of their children.
The two appeared before the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday, where they were sentenced for the couple's March 2022 murders.
The sentencing comes as the family continues to grapple with the devastating loss, with a heartbreaking voice note from the couple’s young daughter revealing the pain she has carried since their deaths.
SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Nkuna and Chego collectively faced 12 charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, kidnapping, fraud and other serious offences arising from the case.
