Update:

It’s been a minute since the last Mitsubishi Pajero. The global model bowed out five years ago, but the United States said goodbye to the Montero way back in 2006. Originally launched in 1982, the off-roader racked up cumulative sales of more than 3.3 million units in over 170 countries. But the company pulled the plug in 2021 without an immediate successor.

Now, it’s finally back.

Entering its fifth generation, the Pajero (aka Montero in certain markets) makes its long-awaited return. Mitsubishi is still undecided about whether to bring it to the United States, but it does intend to sell the reborn off-roader in around 100 countries worldwide. It will launch initially in Thailand, followed by Japan and Australia by the end of March 2027.
