Monaco have pulled out of a deal to sell midfielder Lamine Camara to Chelsea at the eleventh hour ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.The Athletic reported earlier on Tuesday that Chelsea had reached an agreement with Monaco for the signing of Camara after having a bid in the region of £47million (€54m) accepted just hours before the 11pm BST deadline.However, Chelsea sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, said Monaco had reneged on the agreement in a move related to Folarin Balogun’s transfer to Everton, which was also ongoing late on Tuesday night.Camara had already agreed terms with Chelsea on a six-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, had completed a medical and was set to arrive in London on Wednesday before Monaco pulled the plug.Chelsea’s move for Camara, who represented Senegal at this summer’s World Cup, followed the agreement to sell Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for £125m ($168m). City and Chelsea have since both confirmed the transfer.Fernandez has signed a five-year deal with CityChelsea have already added to their midfield ranks this summer with the signings of Valentin Barco from Strasbourg and Jordan Henderson after his Brentford contract was mutually terminated.
