Ibom Air, one of Nigeria’s major carrier on Tuesday welcomed its brand-new Airbus A220-300 at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The arrival of the ultra-modern, fuel-efficient twin-engine jet, flown home directly from the Airbus assembly facility in Mirabel, Canada; serves as the centerpiece for an airline on the threshold of crossing 5 million cumulative passengers by the end of September 2026.
The reception ceremony provided a data-backed demonstration of how subnational vision, policy continuity, and infrastructure scaling are creating an aviation economic hub in West Africa
Speaking during the event, Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom State operational statistics which illustrated a carrier scaling systematically to meet growing market demand.
According to the governor, having safely carried 4,953,512 passengers to date across 65,152 scheduled flights, Ibom Air is set to cross the 5 million passenger threshold before the close of September 2026.
