Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav appeals to those yet to be screened to undergo testing as NCD 4.0 survey will conclude soon.

As many as 2.82 crore people have undergone screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Andhra Pradesh under the NCD 4.0 programme, covering 66.05% of the targeted population aged 18 years and above, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has said.Officials reported that surveys had been completed among 3,71,86,846 people, or 86.97% of the target population, by August 31, the Minister said on Tuesday. However, 2,82,38,795 people had actually undergone screening, as some residents were unavailable at home, had migrated, or had died.The screenings identified 59.29 lakh hypertension cases and 48.15 lakh diabetes cases in the State. Of these, 11.79 lakh hypertension and 10.72 lakh diabetes cases were newly detected through the latest NCD 4.0 survey, while the remaining had been identified in earlier surveys.Bapatla recorded the highest proportion of hypertension cases at 19.65%. For diabetes, Bapatla topped the list at 16.89%, followed by West Godavari (15.89%) and East Godavari (15.23%).Alluri Sitharama Raju district reported the lowest prevalence of both hypertension (5.63%) and diabetes (1.51%).Mr. Satya Kumar attributed the lower incidence in the predominantly tribal district partly to traditional lifestyle involving natural food and greater physical activity, and called for scientific study.Sri Sathya Sai (8.47%), Annamayya (9.93%) and Chittoor (10.10%) districts followed ASR district in the lower incidence rate.Cancer screening also identified 22,110 suspected oral, 14,822 breast and 18,837 cervical cancer cases for further evaluation. Subsequent tests confirmed 2,026 oral, 3,571 breast and 2,076 cervical cancer cases.Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Chakradhar Babu briefed the Minister on its progress. Mr. Satya Kumar appealed to those yet to be screened to cooperate with the health workers and undergo testing, saying the NCD 4.0 survey would conclude soon.
