A frail 83-year-old stabbed his nephew to death over a £20,000 inheritance row before setting fire to the property they were in.

Alan Wotton, who has a heart condition and wears a hearing aid, stabbed his nephew 11 times before setting fire to his late sister's home, where he had been staying.

Wotton believed his nephew Andrew Avery, 65, was deliberately withholding £20,000 that his sister June – Mr Avery's mother – had left for him.

Wotton had been staying at his sister's home in Gosport, Hampshire, following her death but was forced to move out after Mr Avery sold the property and bought a flat for his uncle to move to.

However, Wotton was upset at having to leave the property and 'aggrieved' about the inheritance money.
