Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U.T. Khader on Tuesday (September 1) directed officials concerned to make preparations to celebrate Mangaluru Dasara in a grand manner so as to attract a large number of tourists to the district.Chairing a preparatory meeting for the Mangaluru Dasara, Mr. Khader said all kinds of preparations should be made to create a festive atmosphere in the city. He highlighted the need for effective electric lighting, cleanliness and decorations for the festival. Mr. Khader called for attractive electric lighting displays along major roads and junctions at key Dasara locations, such as the Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple, Mangaladevi Temple, and Urva Mariyamma Temple.All departments concerned, including the Mangaluru City Corporation, should work in coordination in this direction, he said.The traffic police should be deployed with a well-equipped system to manage traffic. Parking arrangements and smooth traffic arrangements should be maintained without any hindrance to vehicles coming for the Dasara programme.The Minister directed the Health Department to set up 24/7 health centres. The transport department should ensure that city buses operate for extended hours during Dasara.
