A “phenomenal” drama is making a comeback and it isn’t one to miss out on.Hayley Anderson Screen Time TV Reporter14:24, 01 Sep 2026Crime drama fans need to tune into Channel 5 tonight for the return of “television at its best”.‌Last year, Channel 5 viewers were blown away by the collaboration between McDonalds & Dodd star Jason Watkins and Grantchester’s Robson Green in The Game.‌The first series saw ex police officer Huw Miller (played by Jason Watkins) become obsessed with his new enigmatic neighbour Patrick Harbottle (Robson Green), believing that he could be the stalker-killer that got away years prior.‌It was in the final episode that it was discovered that Huw was right but Patrick brutally stabbed him just as the police burst in to arrest him. Now, one year on and both Huw and Patrick are back but the games are only just getting started.As the synopsis teases: “A year after surviving a brutal stabbing, Huw believes he has escaped the psychological grip of serial killer Patrick, now imprisoned for his crimes. But Patrick is not finished.‌“From behind bars, he begins a new game - one that reaches deep into Huw’s family, dismantling his moral compass and forcing him toward an unthinkable choice: stopping Patrick for good might just come at a devastating personal cost.”The first episode of The Game season two debuts this evening, Tuesday, September 1, at 9pm, on Channel 5 with the second instalment coming out the following day, Wednesday, September 2, in the same timeslot.It is then believed that The Game season two will continue the following week with episodes three and four airing Tuesday, September 8, and Wednesday, September 9.‌Fans haven’t been able to stop praising The Game since it premiered on Channel 5 last year.
