A Central technical team will visit Telangana on September 7 to inspect four to five alternative sites identified for the proposed airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.The announcement followed a meeting between Telangana Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao and Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu in New Delhi on Tuesday.Two locations examined earlier were found unsuitable for airport construction due to technical constraints. The newly identified sites will now be assessed on the ground for their geographical and climatic conditions, as well as their technical feasibility for developing an airport.Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu had assured him that the Centre would initiate further steps towards establishing the Kothagudem airport if the technical team’s report is favourable.Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is likely to discuss the proposals for airports at Mamnoor in Warangal and Adilabad with the Union government on September 2.Bhadradri Kothagudem is home to the Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam.
