Khadim Batti, cofounder and chief executive of enterprise software startup Whatfix, passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest, the company said in a statement.Whatfix described Batti as a “visionary leader” who had a transformative impact on the global enterprise SaaS landscape. His “passion, clarity, and conviction” shaped the company and inspired entrepreneurs beyond technology, the statement read. “Our leadership team remains steadfast in carrying his vision forward,” it added.Whatfix’s cofounder Vara Kumar told employees in an email that Batti had spoken with him at length on Monday night and that they had discussed their respective health situations. “He had been maintaining his health very well,” Kumar wrote.Batti’s family has decided to hold his last rites in his hometown in Gujarat, Kumar said in the email.Batti and Kumar started Whatfix in Bengaluru in 2014. The company went on to build a digital adoption platform that helps enterprises drive the use of software applications through in-app guidance, training, and analytics.Batti had more than two decades of experience in the technology industry before founding Whatfix. He had earlier worked at Huawei and cofounded SearchEnabler with Kumar before the duo pivoted to the idea that became Whatfix.The company website describes Batti as an entrepreneur who also spent years mentoring founders and technology professionals. He was also a member of SaaSBoomi and served on the governing council of AIBoomi, the community focused on India’s AI-first product ecosystem. Batti was among AIBoomi’s founding members.Under Batti’s leadership, Whatfix expanded its presence across global markets and built a customer base that included large enterprises. It has raised funding from investors like SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Sequoia Capital India (now Peak XV Partners), Cisco Investments, Dragoneer, and Warburg Pincus. Warburg Pincus led a $125 million investment in Whatfix in 2024, valuing the company at close to $800 million.Peak XV Partners on X said, “Batti was a visionary leader whose passion and drive inspired those around him. His warmth and dedication touched the lives of many and left a lasting impact. May he rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Whatfix team.”Avinash Raghava, CEO and founding volunteer at SaaSBoomi and a key member of the AIBoomi community, said Batti was an important part of India’s SaaS and AI ecosystem. “A wonderful friend. A generous mentor. Someone who always made time for the ecosystem and showed up for founders with warmth and sincerity,” Raghava said in a LinkedIn post.Batti was also an active angel investor in India’s startup ecosystem, backing companies across enterprise software, AI, healthcare, and EV infrastructure. His portfolio included startups such as NanoNets, Locale.ai, GTM Buddy, UrbanPiper, ElectricPe, Ayu Health, Drivetrain, AppEQ.AI, Factors.AI, and mirrAR. His last publicly recorded investment was in mirrAR’s November 2023 funding round.
