TP-Link's first Wi-Fi 8 router opens for pre-orders September 30, US launch remains uncertain

What just happened? Three months after TP-Link said it would release its first consumer Wi-Fi 8 router in the fall, the company has just revealed more details and the launch date of the Archer 8 Ultra. Following its arrival, the firm plans to release more Wi-Fi 8 routers in the first and second quarters of 2027. But whether they'll be avialable in the US remains unclear.

Unveiled at IFA 2026, the Archer 8 Ultra BN19000 is a tri-band router rated for aggregate wireless speeds of 19Gbps. It packs 18 internal antennas, 10Gbps wired connectivity, and claimed coverage of a 3,600-square-foot home. Its redesigned enclosure is intended to be shown off on a shelf, rather than being hidden somewhere that restricts its signal.

"What users actually care about is consistency," said Jeff Barney, president of TP-Link Systems. "Archer 8 is designed to deliver exactly that."
