The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asked Timipre Sylva, former Governor of Bayelsa State, to make himself available for questioning over an alleged $14.86 million fraud case.
Dele Oyewale, commission’s spokesperson, made this known on Monday while responding to allegations by Sylva that the anti-graft agency had allowed itself to be used as a political instrument by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“He has been declared wanted; he should make himself available to the commission,” Oyewale said.
The development came shortly after Sylva announced his resignation from the APC, citing what he described as the party’s departure from the principles upon which it was founded and the Federal Government’s failure to meet the expectations of Nigerians.
In a resignation letter dated August 31, 2026, Sylva said he reached the decision after consultations with members of his family, associates and political allies.
