The £100m R&D procurement scheme competition is backed by the country’s Sovereign AI investment fund.
The UK government is opening a competition with a funding pool of £100m to AI start-ups based in the country that want to help solve “some of society’s biggest challenges”, according to the British treasury department.
The aim of the initiative is to fix and improve public services in the UK by helping “promising British AI start-ups” to take on challenges such as cutting NHS waiting lists, improving patient care, and strengthening cyber and national security.
The £100m R&D procurement scheme competition is backed by the country’s Sovereign AI fund, and aims to provide “innovative British start-ups” with more access to public-contract opportunities by mitigating barriers around cash reserves or track records.
