Mahikeng court rejects proposed divorce claim involving 10 cows and 64 goats.

The North West High Court in Mahikeng, has dismissed an application by a pensioner seeking to amend her divorce pleadings in an effort to claim an equal division of livestock while simultaneously demanding that her husband forfeit his entire half-share of their joint estate.

Acting Judge Thabiso Masike ruled in a divorce matter involving a couple who married in community of property in August 1983.

The couple, who are now pensioners, are engaged in a legal battle over assets after the wife instituted divorce proceedings in April 2024, seeking a decree of divorce and a standard division of the joint estate.

However, the husband opposed her application of a standard division of the joint estate after producing documents showing that two immovable properties, which the wife initially believed formed part of the joint estate, were actually excluded.
