The Nigerian Economic Summit Group has said Nigeria must urgently shift from an economy that records growth without sufficient employment to one capable of creating millions of quality jobs for its growing population.
The NESG made this known in a statement issued on Monday, signed by the Head, Strategic Communication and Advocacy, Ayanyinka Ayanlowo.
Ahead of the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit scheduled to hold on October 26 and 27, 2026, in Abuja, the summit will focus on unemployment and the need to ensure that economic expansion translates into sustainable employment opportunities.
Under its first sub-theme, “Work Nigeria,” the summit will examine strategies for tackling the country’s employment crisis and preparing its workforce for a more productive economy.
The NESG noted that Nigeria’s population had surpassed 220 million, with nearly 70 per cent of the population below the age of 35.
