President Donald Trump on Monday warned that communities resisting data center construction risk becoming "backwards and poor," wading into a fight that is creating political problems for Republicans ahead of November's midterm elections.
"The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign." He also argued that opposition to data centers benefits China in the global competition over artificial intelligence.
