Protesters have foiled a bank holiday 'land grab' by travellers that saw bulldozers flatten a wildlife haven. Local residents came out in force, many camping overnight, to vent their anger after a field was taken over in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. A temporary stop notice issued by the council was ignored, and it took scores of police officers to halt the diggers and force them to leave.
