But I will say that, as a parent without a house cleaner, organizer, or manager, these home products have absolutely changed the way I live in my house. Thankfully, I found this wooden zoo cage at Target, and it's saved her space.Now, instead of every stuffy piled high in her playroom, they're all contained and safely stored in this open-wall zoo. I love that the cords are super stretchy and you can see every toy in the cage so she doesn't rip them all out to find the one she's looking for. Plus, the cords don't snap back, making it super easy for her to play. I also love how nice it looks. Instead of those hammocks, which are flimsy and fall down all over, this holds every single stuffy without any extra movement or spillage. You can get this in two different sizes and three finishes.Swoop BagsThe ultimate Lego organizerIf you've ever stepped on a single Barbie shoe or a Lego in the wee hours or as you're trying to rush your kid out the door for school, you already know where I'm heading. Our large Swoop bag masterfully opens flat into a 36-inch circular playmat, so my daughter can build Legos right on it. Then, the magic happens. As soon as she's done, she doesn't have to the building pieces away. Instead, I just pull the drawstring and everything swoops right into the middle (hence the name). There's a 6-inch edge piece around the perimeter, which is what keeps all the tiny pieces in while she plays (and then later on during cleanup, too). It holds up to 17 pounds of Legos, which is insanely impressive. You can either store it under something, or use the cord to hang it from a doorknob or bed post. This doesn’t include therapy, school programs, and Spanish lessons. I was running all of this from my phone prior to getting the Skylight Max, and we missed so much and were late to almost everything. This gorgeous digital calendar truly changed our lives. It's a 27-inch touchscreen that hangs on the wall in our kitchen and pulls calendars from Google, Apple, Outlook, and Cozi all together so we can sync everything. That's why we got this jumpstarter that has come into play more times than I can count. As someone who knows nothing about cars (outside of the fact they go fast, thanks the “Fast and the Furious” franchise), this is such an easy-to-use car tool. You put the red clamp on the positive terminal, the black on the negative, press the button, and then start your car. It's literally that easy. Plus, it has spark-proof technology and reverse polarity protecting, just in case you put the clamps on backwards. You won't get shocked to death, you'll get a warning (which is super helpful when you're frazzled). This particular unit has 1,250 amps, which handles gas engines up to 6.5 liters, and it's super tiny, barely two pounds with the clamps. What really sold me over the cheaper model is the fact you can charge this via USB-C, and it fully recharges in 48. It also works as a 60W power bank for your phone or laptop, and has a 100-lumen flashlight with a built in SOS strobe, which I hope I never need but am so glad to have. SteameryThe chicest handhold steamer I don't own an ironing board because it feels so Victorian — but that meant that anytime I had to iron clothes, I had to do it on my bed. Which, as you can imagine, did not do much to press out wrinkles. Then I was introduced to the handheld steamer, and I've never looked back. This (really pretty) Steamery steamer has 1350 watts, and you can do it with one hand. It takes wrinkles out almost instantly, and they stay out of the garment for hours. This product uses dry steam, which means it doesn't leave water spots on the fabric and also kills 99.9% of bacteria, while also freshening up stuff that's maybe been sitting in the closet all season. How it works is, you place the heated front plate against the fabric of the garment for cuffs and collars and it instantly releases steam which removes wrinkles. There's also a visible water tank so you know when to refill, and a hanging loop so it can live on a hook versus shoved in a drawer. The only downside is the tank size, which is really small at just 2.87 oz, so you constantly have to refill on larger items or bulk steams. Amazon... or a more affordable option that one HuffPost reporter swears byMy steamer, while gorgeous, is expensive; so if you’re looking to save a little bit on this indispensable purchase, check out this Hilife steamer that senior shopping writer Lourdes Avila Uribe swears by. It has an astonishing number of reviews — over 130,000! — and a 240-milliliter tank that offers 15 minutes of continuous steaming.Walking Pad / King SmithA splurgeworthy walking pad that helps me gets my steps inAs someone who works from home most of the time, my step count can get a little dire. So, right after COVID, I decided to splurge with a holiday bonus and bought myself this walking pad. Now, instead of closing out the day with a shameful 800 steps, I close it out with 12,000. What I love about this device is that not only is it cute and sleek, but more importantly, it folds up and can store under high couches or against a wall so it's completely tucked away out of sight. It tops out at 3.7 MPH, so you can get a good sweat during a 45-minute walk. The weight limit is 220 pounds, and it's HSA/FSA eligible. This model comes with a remote, but of course that was one of the first things lost. However, instead of having to panic-buy a replacement, I just downloaded the free app and can control every aspect of my exercise directly from my phone. One small criticism: The motor started quiet, but after a few months of daily use, it started getting louder. Now, it’s a recognizable sound. However, after chatting with customer service, it seems the new models have improved this feature. Another important thing to note is that this model it does not have a railing, so if you’re prone to fainting or have poor balance, you may want to look for a model that comes with more support. Claire GallamA coffee shop at homeI was a K-cup person religiously. Not proudly, because I know those single-use coffee pods create a lot of waste, but because of ease. I'd just pop one into the Keurig and get a single-serve cup within a minute. The coffee was fine — not great, but fine. However, as I've aged, I've been craving BETTER coffee. Because it does make a difference. It's why I splurged on this KitchenAid espresso machine, which is a beast of an appliance. But I recommend it to every single person who comes over and sees it, as well as people I barely know. It has over 40 recipes saved right in the machine, including lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, flat whites, espressos, and more. The milk container hooks right up to the machine, and distributes the right amount of milk for every drink. What I love most about it is how intuitive it is, and also how customizable. You can set the temperature, coffee level, and mix level right into the machine, and then save every drink under your name so you get the perfect beverage with just a single click. The grinder clears itself between batches, and the machine prompts you to rinse and clean the milk attachment instantly, which takes the guesswork out of when it has to be cleaned (and no stinky, chunky milk surprises a week later). Plus the metal-clad tray is easy to wash out, and also can be put in the dishwasher to sanitize. You can't beat the 2-year warranty either.DysonA hard-working lightweight vacuum that’s really worth the costI am, what I like to call, a vacuum connoisseur. Maybe it's because I spent over two years as the senior copywriter for a vacuum company or the fact that I'm teetering on the line of “clean freak,” but there is nothing I love more than a good vacuum. And after MONTHS of use, I have to admit — the Dyson v16 Piston is worth every single penny, and more. Not only is she aesthetic and cute (with a ‘90s-energy color scheme), she's powerful to boot. With 315 watts of fade-free suction, 70 minutes of runtime in eco mode, and long hair de-tangling, this lightweight cordless vac is my saving grace. We don't have a pet, but we have SO much hair floating around my house (thanks to my daughter's supermodel-length locks), dust bunnies, and just-tracked-in grass from the pool that I've burned through dozens of vacuum models. This is the only stick vac I've found that can keep up, and trust me, I stress-test the heck out of these.Another thing I love about it? It compresses the dirt it inhales, and can hold up to one month's worth of dust and debris. It also has a boost mode that you can use for heavy cleaning — I’ve used it after a week of not vacuuming, and it held up incredibly. The vac also detects which floor you're cleaning, so it will adjust suction based on carpet, rug, or hardwood. The price is high, I know. As a bonus, it's also HEPA certified, with a fully-sealed, five-stage filtration system captures that 99.99% of particles as small as 0.1 microns, according to Dyson’s engineers. It's certainly a splurge, but as someone who knows the home care category, I can tell you it's worth it.
