Terming YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) as ‘Axe Party’, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu lambasted the previous government for what he described as deceiving the people by the ‘fake inauguration’ of the Veligonda Project before the 2024 general elections.Addressing the people after inaugurating Phase-I of Veligonda Project at Gantavanipalle in Dornala mandal of Markapuram district on Monday, Mr. Naidu alleged that the project had suffered a setback after the YSRCP came to power in 2019, resulting in an inordinate delay of the project.“The ‘Axe Party’ had issued a GO for the displaced families but made only partial payments. Claiming that the Veligonda project had been completed just a month before the elections, the YSRCP government dedicated it to the nation while works worth ₹4,000 crore were still pending,” Mr. Naidu said.He further said that a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) got stuck in the tunnels during teh YSRCP’s tenure and the works could not be completed. “It was only after the coalition government came to power that the problem was solved, the works completed, and finally, the Krishna water was brought to the region.” he added.
