Higher Education Minister Roji M. John has stated that the settlement regarding the appointments of the Vice-Chancellors (V-C) to A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University and Digital University Kerala (DUK) were finalised during the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s tenure.In a statement issued here, the Minister said that the dispute surrounding the appointments arose during the LDF regime.At the time, both the State government and the Chancellor approached the Supreme Court, which subsequently referred the matter to its Special Lok Adalat for mediation.Subsequently, regular V-Cs were appointed to both the universities based on a mutual understanding reached between both parties. The appointees also assumed their respective offices.He also clarified that the government granted permission to technically close the Supreme Court case since the ongoing proceedings had lost their relevance.
