Lebanon’s President Aoun seeks Greek backing for full Israel agreement implementation
LONDON: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Monday called for the full and nonselective implementation of a US-backed framework agreement with Israel, saying that both sides must meet their commitments to end hostilities along the border.
Speaking after talks with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas during an official visit to Athens, Aoun said that Lebanon was pursuing a diplomatic resolution to its conflict with Israel.
“Lebanon and its people are tired of wars, and the goal of negotiations with Israel is to end the state of hostility,” he said, according to a video statement posted by the Lebanese Presidency on X.
He urged Greece to use its influence “to the extent possible” to help ensure that the agreement is implemented “by both sides, without selectivity.”
