North Central insecurity: Tinubu seeks community-based security strategy

MAKURDI — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged stakeholders in the North Central geopolitical zone to move beyond rhetoric and develop practical, measurable and sustainable solutions to insecurity ravaging parts of the region.

Tinubu gave the charge on Monday at the 2026 North Central Regional Security Summit in Makurdi, Benue State, insisting that the summit must not end with another communiqué that would be forgotten.

The President, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said recommendations from the summit must have clear responsibilities, timelines and measurable outcomes.
