DAF itself describes the vehicle as a “sensational-looking vehicle” that combines distinctive design with modern zero-emission technology. Van Der Mierden Transport recently acquired the electric truck through DAF dealer Truckland. The vehicle is based on a DAF XD 350 FT 4×2 tractor unit with a 350 kW drive and a 525 kWh battery pack. The manufacturer quotes a range of more than 500 kilometres.
The truck stands out visually with a colour scheme and stripes inspired by a prominent DAF racing truck from the 1990s. “With this DAF, we demonstrate that sustainability, operational practicality and a distinctive design go hand in hand,” said Julian van der Mierden, Managing Director of Van Der Mierden Transport. “We deliberately chose an innovative and sustainable electric solution that can be deployed directly in day-to-day operations. Like our customers, we care about nature and the future of the next generations.”
Van Der Mierden Transport is a family-owned business that has been operating for more than 60 years. The company originally started out collecting milk churns from local farms with horse and cart. Today, its modern fleet consists almost exclusively of DAF trucks. The vehicles no longer transport just fresh milk to processing plants, but also raw milk ingredients, semi-finished products and finished goods in the Netherlands and beyond, including in insulated tank trailers.
