The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday sanctioned nearly 18,000 houses at a cost of about Rs 448 crore under the PMAY-Urban 2.0 Beneficiary-led Construction scheme for 2025-26 and 2026-27.Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Special Secretary, Housing Department, said the unit cost of each house is Rs 2.5 lakh, of which 60 per cent, or Rs 1.5 lakh, will be provided as assistance by the Government of India and the remaining 40 per cent, or Rs 1 lakh, by the state government."Government, after careful and detailed examination of the facts and circumstances reported by the Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited ... hereby accords administrative sanction for construction of 17,912 houses with a unit cost of Rs 2.5 lakh and a project cost of Rs 447.8 crore under PMAY-Urban 2.0 BLC for 2025-26 and 2026-27," Korlapati said in a Government Order.According to the Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited, the Central Sanctioning-cum-Monitoring Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had considered the sanction of 893 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 BLC for 2025-26 at a project cost of Rs 22 crore.It had considered 4,649 houses for 2025-26 at a project cost of Rs 116 crore and another 12,370 houses for 2026-27 at a project cost of Rs 309 crore. However, Korlapati said beneficiaries would have to bear any additional cost required to complete the houses in all respects over and above the sanctioned unit cost.Published on August 31, 2026
