The European Union is continuing measures targeting Russia's shadow fleet in an effort to severely restrict oil revenues used to fuel the war machine of the aggressor state.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said this in a post on X, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"The oil tanker MV SUN, suspected of sailing under false flag in breach of international maritime law, was boarded on 30 August in the Mediterranean by Operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI forces for flag verification," Kallas wrote.
She added that this was the sixth suspected shadow fleet vessel boarded by EU operations in recent months.
"Actions against the shadow fleet will be among the topics when EU Defense Ministers gather in Ireland on Tuesday," Kallas said, referring to the informal meeting of EU defense ministers in the Gymnich format.
