Separate reports indicate that the US military launched an attack on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) positions on Larak Island on the evening of Sunday, August 30. Hours after these reports surfaced, the IRGC announced that the strike resulted in the deaths and injuries of several military personnel.
Reuters, Al Jazeera, and Axios reporter Barak Ravid, citing US officials, reported that the US military targeted two IRGC launch pads on Larak Island.
Writing on X, Barak Ravid quoted US officials as stating that American forces targeted two Iranian launch platforms on Larak. According to these officials, IRGC forces were preparing to launch rockets carrying naval mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
Reuters published a similar report, citing a US official. Al Jazeera also confirmed the attack on the IRGC launch pads on Larak Island, citing an unnamed US official.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet commented on these reports.
